Prof. Manju Chandran is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Director of the Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism Unit at Singapore General Hospital, as well as a Clinical Professor at DUKE NUS Medical School.
She is the founding Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Consortium on Osteoporosis (APCO), leading efforts to standardize osteoporosis care across 23 countries. Under her leadership, APCO developed the APCO Framework, a pioneering set of clinical standards adopted by many countries worldwide. She also created platforms for clinician collaboration and education to improve osteoporosis care globally.
Prof. Chandran holds several prestigious leadership roles and has received numerous international awards, including the 2025 ISCD Dr. Oscar S Gluck Humanitarian Award, the 2023 ISCD Clinician of the Year Award, and the 2021 IOF Olof Johnell Science Award.
She established OPTIMAL, the Secondary Fracture Prevention program at Singapore General Hospital, the first in Asia Pacific to receive the IOF Gold Star for Best Practice.
Her research focuses on osteoporosis epidemiology, economic burden, rare bone disorders, diabetes and bone health, with over 200 publications. She is also a passionate public advocate, founding WISHBONE, Singapore’s only osteoporosis support group, and organizing annual public forums since 2007.
